Our Inspiration

Symbolizing the enjoyment of life, the calliope hummingbird is thought to have an optimistic view of the world.  This fascinating little bird, with a name meaning “little star,” is capable of incredible feats despite its small size.  It can fly great distances from country to country and is seen as a resilient messenger.  In celebration of the calliope hummingbird, we endeavor to remain curious as educational explorers in our pursuit to connect, create, and inspire teachers and students of the world.

Our Mission

Our mission is to empower teachers and students to prepare for their futures in a world that will prioritize creativity, innovation, and collaboration.  By connecting international classrooms, we hope to serve as a catalyst that will inspire transformational learning and teaching through global projects, travel, and professional development.

Calliope aims to connect global classrooms, teachers, and students in relationships of sharing and celebrating.  By using digital age technologies, teachers and students can connect in conversations to ultimately develop a world-view that broadens and deepens thinking beyond the boundaries of nations and continents.

Calliope seeks to foster and cultivate a love of learning and drive for innovation through global projects and educational world travel.  Through opportunities of exploration, teachers and students can together create and work swiftly to solve problems of global significance and think critically, abstractly, and creatively. 

Calliope strives to inspire educators from around the world to be curious and motivated in efforts to lead meaningful change through use of innovative teaching practices and digital age technologies.  Within a global context, like-minded teachers can act as change agents to transform the educational landscape and access and share learning in new and innovative ways.
